“ The Last Refuge is hands down the coolest and most beautiful bar I’ve ever been to. Had a drink and it was delicious, but did not try their food. The atmosphere is incredible—set inside a former German Methodist church from the 1800s, the space is rich with history and character. But what really blew me away was their whiskey room—over 4,000 bottles on display! Whether you’re a whiskey lover or just appreciate a unique, stunning setting, this place is a must-visit if you’re in Louisville, Kentucky. Truly unforgettable. ”
“ Our visit started with the amazing Mika who lead us to our great table with Alexis. They both had great food and drink recommendations and we decided on the religious experience. It was amazing. Alexis then recommended the bourbon balls and they didn’t disappoint. The signature cocktails were a treat and the Heavens Door bourbon flight was a great way to finish. The food and drink was great but the service and atmosphere made this place the best place we’ve been to in Louisville. We’ll definitely be back. ”
“ Stunning, just stunning. The church exterior hides two twenty-five foot tall bourbon bottle walls that have to be seen to be truly appreciated. Think Sistine Chapel of Bourbons. Not a foodies destination as the menu is somewhat limited. But what they do make is well above average and worth a visit. Blasphemy be damned, this place is a thin slice of heaven. ”

She shared what she knew about the history of the old church and community center and was kind enough to invite her team member Amy to fill in the blanks. Amy then took us on a verbal tour down memory lane. The food menu was intentionally created to exceed expectations, and the entire team of servers worked together to deliver hot plates, ready for consumption. We will definitely recommend this historic spot to anyone looking for an upper room experience! ”

It is an old German Methodist Church turned restaurant / event space. If there isnt an event going on, check out the old "worship" area. When they decorated this place, they kept what made this building unique - and there are touches of its history throughout. If you do go, ask for Chloe...she really made our experience wonderful. She loves her job and The Last Refuge. And make sure to check out the upstairs. ”

They have the biggest selection of bourbon I've ever seen. The service is great with an awesome atmosphere. You definitely need to go there. ”
“ Amazing place. Atmosphere was really eclectic but really fun. The selection of alcohol was epic. Even though it is associated with Heaven Hill, they had an amazing selection of bourbon. The food was literally some of the best I have ever had. The chef is like a mad scientist finding balance in both texture and flavor with some truly unique combinations. I can't rave about this place enough...it is that good. The Taste of Derby appetizer is one of the most balanced, amazing dishes I have ever eaten. Save room for dessert...you won't be disappointed with the tootsie roll creme brule or the bourbon balls. Standing ovation! ”
